It’s called The Country Preacher, and is about a man who travels the countryside, visiting different small towns and their churches, preaching the Good Book. He doesn’t, however, travel light, bringing with him all the baggage that comes with bourbon, bullets and womanizing.   The country preacher’s thoughts on the book of Genesis show the importance of free enterprise, the necessity of the small state rejecting the state giving free handouts which make us into slaves, the importance of being anti-union, the fundamental importance of being pro-private property, and the necessity of gun ownership.

The word "preacher" usually conjures up an image of an old man reading from the Bible to his congregation on Sunday morning. But for a preacher serving in the rural reaches of Texas in the 's, the job entailed so much more than just spreading the Good Word. The community churches weren't anything fancy, if they even existed at all. Merging with a bizarre spiritual force called Genesis, Texan Preacher Jesse Custer becomes completely disillusioned with the beliefs that he had dedicated his entire life to. Now possessing the power of "the word," an ability to make people do whatever he utters, Custer begins a violent and riotous journey across the country. Joined by his gun-toting girlfriend Tulip and the hard drinking 4/5(5).

A country preacher examines the Christian faith. Sometimes, I wish this stuff were all a joke. The headline read "Protesting Methodist LGBTQ policy, confirmation class takes a pass".It appeared on my Facebook thread posted by a friend who was celebrating this action.
